My first month at TFP – hear from our newest team member, Curtis

This month, the newest member of the TFP team, Curtis, shares his thoughts on his first few weeks in the business…

Starting a new job can be a daunting thing, especially when you have been out of work for an extended period. Fortunately, from day one at TFP, I was made to feel welcomed and part of the team.

The first month at TFP Financial Planning has flown by and been a wonderful experience. Since I started, I have received nothing but support and encouragement.

We have had multiple team-building events, including dinner out at local restaurants and mini golf down at the prom, which I fluked and somehow won (I was actually tied first, but I’ll count that as winning!).

We also built new office chairs as a competition but, unfortunately, unlike the mini golf I placed last in this one. Although, I will argue that this was down to being sabotaged by a rival who shall not be named.

A bit about me

My general family history revolves around helping people. Both of my parents are former police officers and, after growing up and observing them through years of dedication and service to their community, friends and family, the desire to help people has been passed down!

It is one of the reasons I was so happy to start working at TFP. It was obvious from the first meeting that the priority was improving clients’ lives, by building a relationship and working with each another over a period of time rather than the typical transaction-based relationship with clients.

Home life

I am a middle child with an older sister and a younger brother, which you could probably tell after getting to know me.

The sixth member of my family is my dog, Stella, who is a cocker spaniel. She’s the greatest dog ever, although I will admit it is possible that I may be slightly biased.

A few things to know about me:

  1. I am a keen follower of football, especially my team, Manchester United. I also love to follow the latest from all the top five European leagues.

  2. In the last year I have discovered my passion for fitness, through testing myself daily, whether it be improving my overhead press or tracking my calories and planning out my training to fit my goals.

  3. I love baking and attempting new recipes (sometimes maybe too much).

  4. My favourite pastime is gaming in any form, again probably a bit too much.

I look forward to speaking to you over the next few weeks and months!
